Mack Mack came to us hunting trained. His previous owner had already taught him basic obedience and several other commands; he even knew left from right! After an extended stay at the shelter, Mack got adopted intoa wonderful home with a yellow lab and two kids. His new lab brother, Buster, likes to be dominant, but laid-back Mack doesn’t mind. His whole world revolves around one thing: the TENNIS BALL!!
Lucy and OliverLucy and Oliver were adopted approximately one year apart. Oliver was about 1 and Lucy was about 3. They were both in poor health, underweight and had serious skin problems. They are now very happy and well adjusted. They need constant grooming to control their skin problems but other than that they are very spoiled and sleep on feather pillows.
BenFun-loving Ben was adopted at our first mobile adoption at Pet Club. His owner describes him as a “goof ball”. He is very spoiled and loved. His absolute favorite thing to do is play with his doggie friends.
Jill
Jill was born on April 9, 2005 in the feral cat barn at the shelter. Her birth mother rejected her when she was just hours old. She was bottle fed and cared for in a foster home until her foster parent decided to adopt her. She is now one year old and very sweet and gentle. She loves playing with all the dogs and loves to play in water.
Holly
Hi Michael,
I am sending you pictures of Holly, she’s getting so big! She rules the house, love playing with her big brother Jake (the dog) and is spoiled rotten…She sleeps between us every night, gets ready with me in the morning and lays around all day with Jake. They have become best friends, which just makes my heart melt. If I shut a door, with one on the other side…they both cry until I let them either in or out. She pesters him a lot, but he likes it :)
I just wanted to touch base with you and let you know that she is loved and is growing up to be just as spoiled as I hoped!
Take Care, Cathrine
Ace
My name was Baily at the shelter, but I am Ace now. I was adopted on Feb 17, 2006. I love my new home. I have a big backyard to run around in. My favorite thing is to help with the recycling by breaking down the cardboard boxes. I was very mellow in the shelter, but all my energy comes out now. My mommy had to hold me in order to take my picture! My family really loves me, even when I’m hyper. I have a 15 year old sheltie brother that I love and a cat brother that I try to stay away from. I am very happy with my new family! Update: My mommy and daddy just adopted a sister kitty for me! Her name was Dixie at the shelter, but she is Sierra now.
Munchen
My husband and I adopted Munchen from the shelter on March 14, 2006. We had visited the kennel area and noticed her color first. Her name at the shelter was “Rosy”. I instantly felt a connection to her, and told my husband that I feel she is the one. We filled out the adoption papers and had our meet and greet with her. From the way she ran around the field playfully, and did her business there, I knew that she was the dog for me. She even sealed the deal when she came running from the other end of the field to where I was sitting at the table, leaped onto my lap, and gave me a kiss. Her favorite thing to do is leap as high as she can, or jump on people to give them kisses. Hopefully, we can ease her from that habit as we continue to attend the obedience classes offered here at the shelter.

Ruby
We adopted our 6 month old pit bull Ruby (was named Marla at the shelter) in February. She has brought a lot of joy and entertainment to our home. She is very smart and caught on to our routine almost immediately. Having spent most of her life in the shelter, everything in a house was new to her. It didn’t take her long to learn how to behave in the house, but is still learning some of her manners. She learns new things everyday. She fits in well with our other two dogs and loves to play with our son’s younger puppy. She’s very observant, always watching closely to what the other dogs are doing, and then following their lead. In the mornings, she is all energy and runs around the yard nonstop. She is now beginning to learn how to play fetch with our black lab. We love Ruby and all she brings to our family. We are very happy with our sweet girl.
Thank you,
Paul and Sally Morris
Buddy (the lab/pit)
I adopted Buddy in August 2005. He is a great dog!! He is such a little ham, always wanting to show off his tricks. He already knew basic obedience when I got him, but we have worked hard at maintaining his good behavior, including going to the obedience class at the shelter twice a week. Buddy loves attention and knows how to look cute. It is impossible to resist his prairie dog imitation. He loves going for car rides and he really loves his squeaky toys! I have loved Buddy so much from the moment I met him and I am grateful for everyday that I get to spend with my Buddy boy.
Buddy (the golden retriever)
I had run in for bird food. I was just supposed to pick seed and meet my husband back in the parking lot. But on that Saturday, they were having a Pet Adoption day…and I could hear the dogs barking and I got sidetracked. The dogs were excited. I could hear it. My heart tugged at me…dare I go in? Was I ready to adopt a new dog? I decided I was strong enough to take a peek. After all, it had been a year since my husband and I had lost our beloved Marti, a lab/golden mix, to cancer. We had decided to wait until the time was right. Was the time right now?
My first impression of Buddy was that he was HUGE! He filled up the entire cage! He was also beautiful. I walked straight over to him. He was so friendly, he seemed so happy. I saw him and said to myself, “He is terrific. I must go get Jim (my husband). He must meet this dog.”
When Jim walked into the Pet Adoption room, he walked straight over to Buddy, even though I had not told him which dog had caught my eye. We took him for a short walk outside. He was pretty excited and strong. After a few minutes we said, “Let’s do this”.
It took some time for us to get used to each other. Buddy, who was approximately 4 years old, was in desperate need of manners and training. Buddy also had anxiety issues and didn’t like to be left alone. Despite the challenges, we adore Buddy. He is a bog love. He is good natured and happy and always makes us laugh.
We didn’t see much progress in his behavior until we got into the wonderful training class at the shelter. That course has made all the difference. Progress has been slow but steady. We are thrilled at what a difference it has made in his behavior.
Buddy has created his own space in our hearts. He is completely different than Marti, and we love that. He is unique and special. We are looking forward to many years of happiness. From the bottom of our hearts, we consider adopting Buddy one of our best decisions. We love him.
